Pump House at Walterstown

On November 28th, members of the Dŵr Uisce team along with two visiting Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) volunteers, Aida and Michele, who are participating in the Project on the topic of energy saving measures for water networks.

Walterstown GWS and Killally/ Ballinrush GWS managers kindly showed the team their facilities and shared valuable information with the team about the specific schemes. The GWS representatives were also interested in the teams work: the analysis of the potential for micro-hydropower energy recovery and other energy saving measures such as the optimization of the operation of the pumps, offsetting energy using solar energy and other potential improvements in efficiency.

A feasibility study will be carried out for each GWS to assess the potential energy recovery and energy savings for the networks in each community.
